I produced three documentary shorts with accomplished filmmakers Grant Gee, Jake Knight, and FELT as part of the Signifier series commissioned by the Arts Council of England moving image fund. The idea was to work with the filmmakers to create short films that challenged the idea of what documentaries could be. Each project turned out very differently, but all used digital imagery in a unique way, injecting this into a documentary format.
Underdog / Felt
A rural fishing trip brings together contrasting representatives from Los Angeles’ diverse culture. Richard Carroll and Dominic Bridges direct this visually layered short.

400 Anarchists / Grant Gee
Faces from 1880’s Parisian police mugshot archive of suspected anarchists move, mix and melt while a dubious sounding Radio 4 voiceover explores the links between forensic techniques and our sense of individual identity.
Salaryman 6 / Jake Knight
After losing his memory, a Tokyo salaryman attempts to piece together his life.
